Assistant Project Engineer – Civil Job Opportunity

Looking for Full time Consultant should provide the services of an Assistant Team Leader / Assistant Project Manager for the agency project in New York City.
RESPONSIBILITES
Responsibilities/Assignments include, but are not limited to:
I. Ability to comply with the NYSDOT and Federal Highway Administration Bridges and Tunnels Inspections Mandates.
II. Participate in mandated Biennial Bridge Inspections and newly added Tunnel Inspections.
III. Assist in the management of Authorities bridges and tunnels inspection programs including oversight of the Consultants field activities to ensure project quality, safety, and on-time and within budget completion.
IV. Ensure the accuracy of the inspection findings.
V. Perform the assigned in-house inspections of certain number of bridges.
VI. Review the submitted NYSDOT mandated reports to ensure the accuracy and integrity of these reports before submitting them to NYSDOT.
VII. Provide as- needed support to all facilities.
VIII. Assist in managing Capital and Major Maintenance projects under the general guidance of the assigned Engineer; and
IX. Responsible for assuring compliance with contract and regulatory safety requirements on project sites.
X. Review and perform load ratings, etc. and identify and provide the structural deficiencies needed for planning the Capital and Major Maintenance projects necessary to keep the Authority facilities in state of good repair.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1. A Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Construction Engineering or Architecture.
2. Demonstrated knowledge and experience obtained through a minimum of 3 years of practical involvement in inspections and / or construction of Bridges and Tunnels. A master’s degree in Engineering or Architecture may be substituted for 1 year experience.
3. Demonstrated engineering knowledge in the areas of planning, design development and construction, scheduling, management and inspection.
4. Knowledge and familiarity with the NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Manual, AASHTO Element Bridge Inspection System, the National Tunnel Inspection Standards, and Specifications for the National Tunnel Inventory.
5. Strong verbal and written communications skills.
6. Experience in developing contract documents, RFP preparation, field oversight, reviewing daily reports, participating in project meetings and reviewing / enforcing safety checklist.
7. Completion of Occupational Safety and Health Administration 30 Safety.
8. Experience in the use of Excel, Word, Bluebeam, Access PowerPoint and other productivity and presentation software preferred.
9. A driver’s valid driver’s license.
10. Completion of NYSDOT or National Highway Institute Bridges and Tunnels Inspection Training is preferred.

Salary: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
