Assigned Counsel Project Consultant
NYC agency is looking for Assigned Counsel Project Consultant
Responsibilities:
The Scope responsibilities of Services will include but not be limited to the following:
- Advocate for clients to secure services from not-for-profit community-based organizations, charitable organizations, and government agencies to secure entitlements, benefits, and other assistance to help older adults remain in their homes;
- Provide intensive short-term case management and supportive counseling;
- Conduct psychosocial assessments via phone, at the client’s home and/or in office;
- Help clients apply for new or alternate housing; and
- Maintain and update client database and submit monthly reports as requested.
Deliverables:
the Consultant is expected to deliver the following:
- Provide social services case assistance to at least 18 new clients per month who reside in Manhattan and Brooklyn;
- Appear on behalf of clients as needed during scheduled housing court hearings (virtual);
- Conduct home visits as needed to assess clients’ unmet social service and mental health needs, and link them with relevant services, programs and resources.
Qualifications:
All interested applicants are requested to demonstrate how they comply with the following required qualifications and credentials:
- A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, and a minimum of two (2) years of professional experience providing short-term crisis intervention and/or geriatric case management assistance;
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Office applications;
- Excellent communication and organizational skills; and
- Self-starter who works well independently and as part of a
Required Technological Capabilities
- Must have a cellular
- Must have a computer (desktop or laptop) with wireless networking technology (WiFi) service, with a minimum internet speed of 200 megabits per second (Mbps).
- Must have electronic accessories/equipment to telework and attend virtual meetings/court appearances. The device should have the following minimum specifications: either an i7 processor, 16GB of Ram, 1/2TB hard drive, HD webcam and microphone and external headset; or an i5 processor, 8GB of Ram, 256GB hard drive, webcam and microphone and external
Preferred Skills:
- Master’s Degree in Social Work, Mental Health Services, Psychology, or closely related degree
- Experience working with housing court related cases in social services /evictions prevention
- Must have a strong commitment to social justice and supporting the needs of vulnerable populations
Anticipated Contract Term a
 The contract term is anticipated to be May 2022 through December 2022.
